The side of Ibiza I Never knew Existed

Discovering the Hidden Gems of Ibiza: Beyond the Party Scene

Before my recent trip, I had minimal expectations of Ibiza. While I was aware of its vibrant party culture, I knew little about what else this stunning island had to offer. To my surprise, Ibiza is a treasure trove of experiences beyond its famous nightlife.

Exploring Formentera: A Day Trip to Paradise

On our first day, we took a short trip to the smaller island of Formentera, located south of Ibiza. We rented a Vespa for the day, which was the perfect way to explore this compact paradise. The island’s breathtaking landscapes and pristine beaches left us in awe. The water around Formentera is a stunning cerulean blue—truly one of the clearest I’ve ever seen! I highly recommend taking the time to explore Formentera; it boasts numerous beautiful beaches and hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Experiencing the Other Side of Ibiza

Although we didn’t visit Ibiza solely for the parties, we wanted to experience its nightlife, so we attended a performance by David Guetta at Ushuaïa, a renowned day club that operates from around 5 PM to midnight. As fans of electronic music, we were thrilled to be part of such an electrifying event! The concert was an incredible experience, but we chose not to dive deeper into the nightlife, preferring to rise early the next day to see more of what Ibiza has to offer.

Many say that the Balearic Islands—Ibiza, Mallorca, and Menorca—each have their own unique vibe. Ibiza’s atmosphere is relaxed and bohemian, with hippie markets scattered across the island selling artisanal jewelry, souvenirs, and art. On Sundays, beach gatherings at Cala Benirrás feature drummers and dancers celebrating the sunset, creating a laid-back yet vibrant scene. Everywhere we explored, from Ibiza Town to Sant Antoni, we felt the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that defines the island.

Magical Sunsets of the Balearic Islands

The sunsets in the Balearic Islands are simply unforgettable! Each evening, we chose a spot to witness the sun melt into the horizon. It’s a photographer’s dream, with stunning light and breathtaking colors painting the sky. My favorite sunset spot was the lookout point facing Es Vedra, a dramatic rock formation rising over 400 meters from the sea. Although it’s a popular location, the view is nothing short of spectacular. People gather here with friends, enjoying picnics, taking photos, and soaking in the evening sun. There’s a fascinating legend that Es Vedra is the third most magnetic place in the world, after the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle, with some claiming that navigational instruments can be affected near it. This mystery adds to the allure of the area.

A Sunrise to Remember

On our final day, with only half a day left, we decided to make the most of it by rising early to watch the sunrise at Aigua Blanca Beach on the eastern side of Ibiza. This was truly the highlight of our trip! The colors of the sky just before sunrise were surreal, unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We practically had the beach to ourselves, aside from a few joggers, a café owner setting up for the day, and one person meditating. As we watched the sun rise while listening to the gentle waves lapping at the shore, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. After capturing the moment with my camera, we enjoyed a refreshing swim in the warm Mediterranean waters.

Ibiza is so much more than its party reputation; it’s a place filled with natural beauty, rich culture, and unforgettable experiences. I can't wait to return!
