Discovering the Natural Paradise of Asturias, Spain

This summer, my girlfriend and I spent part of our holiday in Asturias, Spain, her home region. Even though I’ve visited Asturias many times before, I’m still amazed by how beautiful this place is! From the majestic mountains with crystal-clear glacial lakes to the stunning Asturian coastline with hidden beaches—accessible only if you know where to find them—Asturias never ceases to surprise me. Every time we visit, my girlfriend takes me to new, incredible spots that leave me, a kid from Finland, brimming with excitement.

The north of Spain is completely different from the south, and honestly, I prefer it. While the south is famous for its tourist hotspots and bustling cities, the north offers a side of Spain many people don't expect—rugged mountains, lush forests, and pristine nature. It's probably one of the reasons why Asturias feels like a hidden paradise that not many people know about, let alone visit.

Every time I look through my photos from Asturias, I understand why they call it a “natural paradise.” It truly is.
